Kia ora Friends of The Court Theatre. I am pleased to say that Owen and I recently renewed our membership, and we consider its money well spent. I’ve just had an invitation to the Ohoka Garden Party at Annie’s and I will be going for sure.
It’s all go here at the Theatre. We are close to opening Little Shop of Horrors and many times through the year we wondered if it would even be possible. But we are the ‘little theatre company that could’ and there isn’t much that keeps us down for long.
You may have read in the paper recently that we held the site blessing for our new home in the city. We had the opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved to this point and talk about our role in reinvigorating the post-quakes heart of Ōtautahi Christchurch.
This was a wonderful landmark for The Court Theatre as mana whenua Ngāi Tūāhuriri performed the ritual over the land on the eve of groundworks commencing for our new home.
Speeches from CCC and myself on behalf of The Court were followed by The Court team leading a collaborative performance of the waiata, Te Taukaea o te Aroha. At the morning tea following on the 1st Floor of Tūranga looking over the new site, we heard from APPLAUSE Chair Steve Wakefield, who acknowledged the campaign leadership gifts by name. The leadership gifts were met with rousing applause from those present.
I’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone at The Court, our Friends, ushers, staff, cast, crew, creatives, Trust Board and Foundation Board. It has been a hectic year but made all the more enjoyable because of the great people who give their time, resources and passion to all that we do in serving our community.
It’s too early to say Happy Christmas … or is it??? Wishing you all safe and enjoyable Holidays.
