On the 25 June Christchurch’s most promising young performers will be gearing up for battle in epic drama Boudica.

Boudica is a stage adaptation of the life of Boudica, Queen of the Iceni, who's a real historical figure,” says director Dan Bain (Titus Andronicus; Stephen King’s Misery). “It tells the story of her uniting the disparate warring tribes of Britain to overthrow the occupying Roman forces.”

With twenty young performers battling for supremacy in The Court Theatre’s Pub Charity Studio, Boudica is the biggest project The Court Youth Company have ever taken on: an exciting yet challenging task for this talented young team.

“Our Youth Company is an amazing group of young performers who are so eager to learn and ready to dive in,” says Education Coordinator Riley Harter, who is Assistant Directing the cast in rehearsals.

Set in 61AD, but written just two years ago, audiences can expect a show that’s big on scale, grit and drama.

“It's a big cast, big ensemble, battle-ridden, low-fi piece of pseudo, classical text,” says Bain. “It's going to be fast and furious.”
