Te Reo Rave Review

Someone once said that “the neural networks in the brain strengthen as a result of language learning”, so, with this in mind, I joined 20 other willing learners at the second free Te Reo class organised by the Court Supporters.

We all had varying exposure to and knowledge of Te Reo, but all wanted to know more about the language and learn some basics to strengthen those neutral networks in the brain!

Hot coffee and Annie’s delicious date loaf sustained us for the two hours while our fabulous teacher, Jackie Watson, took us through some fundamental words before progressing us to write and say our own mihi (greeting) before finishing with a song – Tutira Mai Nga Iwi.

It was an excellent informal way to gain a better understanding of the language and I'd thoroughly recommend it if it’s offered again.
